Ancient floo powder
Long before floo powder was manufactured into a fine powder, wizards and witches used to carry small ampules of pure floo powder to travel through the magic floo network. When a being needed to travel through the floo network, one would simply have to throw the ampule into the fireplace to which would turn the flames into an emerald green colour. Once the flames had change, one would simple walk into them and loudly announce their destination.
These days floo powder is much easier to use and doesn’t need to be carried around in ampules, however the ancient recipe would offer a soft green glow in the dark for when a witch or wizard needed to make a swift escape in the dark.
